ONSF Mini-Med School Welcomes High School Students for the 11th Year

The 11th Annual ONSF Mini-Med School took place from June 24th to June 27th with 14 talented students from 9 area public and private high schools participating. Schools included Greenwich Country Day, Horace Greeley High School, Iona Preparatory, New Canaan High School, Newtown High School, Poly Prep Country Day School, Rye Country Day School, Rye High School and St. Luke’s School.

The program was held at the ONSF Arthroscopy, Surgical Skills, and Biomechanical Research Laboratory in Greenwich, CT. Students engaged in labs, hands-on activities such as suturing and casting, lectures, and surgical simulations, gaining first-hand knowledge from orthopedic and neurosurgical physicians and physical therapists about musculoskeletal disorders and careers in medicine.

Each year ONSF extends an invitation to the Heads of Science Departments at approximately 30 public and private high schools to submit the names and resumes of three students who are rising sophomores or juniors and demonstrate a genuine interest in science or medicine.

Mini-Med School, offered at no cost to the student, provides an amazing
experience that has the potential to help shape the future of these young lives.
