ONS Foundation for Clinical Research and Education Golf Outing Raises Funds for Research Equipment
The ONS Foundation for Clinical Research and Education, a Greenwich Hospital Alliance, held its 4th annual golf outing at the Stanwich Club on June 11th. The event, which is the primary fundraising vehicle for the Foundation was co-chaired by Michael Clain, MD, Brian Matthews and Vicki Leeds Tananbaum. This year players also celebrated a milestone achievement for the organization; the recent completion of a new state-of-the-art Arthroscopy, Surgical Skills and Biomechanical Research Laboratory at 6 Greenwich Office Park on Valley Drive.
After a beautiful buffet lunch on the clubhouse porch, 22 foursomes took to the Stanwich links. Following the tournament, golfers, non-golfing friends and other supporters attended the cocktail reception, auction and dinner. Sandra Hart and Robert Klein co-chaired the auction. NY Times best-selling author, Norb Vonnegut, who will soon release his new book, The Trust, was an engaging auctioneer adding lively repartee to the bidding. Live auction items included an Old Course Experience in St. Andrews, Scotland; Fly fishing in Yellowstone Park; Miller Motorcars weekend drive in an Aston Martin; a five-night stay at Curtain Bluff Resort; a TAG Heuer watch from Betteridge Jewelers; a dinner by Watsons Caterers; golf at Bayonne Golf Club and a stay at Sea Island Resort. “It was a particularly celebratory occasion thanks to the completion of the new lab, and we were honored to share such a successful day with our generous supporters and friends,” said Ms. Tananbaum.
Golf outing sponsors included Greenwich Hospital Yale New Haven Health, The Stamford Hospital Fund, Constitution Surgery Centers, Bershtein, Volpe & McKeon P.C., Greentree Toyota Scion of Danbury who provided the “hole in one” car, Insurance Exchange, Granoff Architects, XPLOR, New England Orthotics and Prosthetic Systems, Tripp Lake Camp and Camp Takajo, Horseneck Wine and Liquor, McCardles and Thomas Cleaners & Laundry. Greenwich Magazine and Hearst Media Services were media sponsors.
The Foundation conducts clinical research aimed at improving orthopedic and neurosurgical techniques and standards for better patient outcomes. Funds raised by the golf outing will go to support the purchase of biomechanical testing equipment.
