Despite the Hurricane, 4th Annual Medical Education Conference successful!
The ONS Foundation 4th Annual Medical Education Conference – “Replacement Parts” – Innovations in Joint Replacement was held on Saturday, November 3 in the Noble Auditorium of Greenwich Hospital. Despite the devastation in the Greenwich area from Hurricane Sandy, approximately 110 medical professionals including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, chiropractors and physician assistants attended the half day event.
The conference was co-chaired by orthopaedic surgeon Frank Ennis, MD and primary care sports medicine doctor Gloria Cohen, MD. Twelve physicians and a physical therapist from ONS delivered informative, compelling presentations on the most cutting-edge surgeries being performed to restore mobility in the aging population.

From shoulders to ankles and many other joints in between, surgeons are making it possible for people to stay active longer through joint replacement surgery. Conference speakers spoke the latest research and outcomes as well as strategies for helping patients prepare for surgery.
“There have been tremendous advances in joint replacement surgeries and many patients who suffer from severe arthritis now automatically look to joint replacement for relief,” said Foundation President and orthopedic surgeon Dr. Paul Sethi. “ Besides the well known knee, hip and shoulder replacements, there has been tremendous progress in developing effective wrist, elbow and even ankle replacements. The ONS Foundation is excited to be involved in this exciting research.&rdquo
